About George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver (c. 1864–1943) was an African American agricultural scientist and inventor, renowned for his work in promoting alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts and sweet potatoes, which helped improve soil health and provide sustainable options for farmers in the southern United States. Born into slavery, Carver faced numerous challenges but went on to earn a degree from Iowa State Agricultural College, becoming a prominent figure at the Tuskegee Institute under Booker T.
